New York, what if your MetroCard came with a seatbelt?
I'm putting this out there for all of us who love the skyline a little too much: omnyrc — One Metro NY Roller Coaster transit all weather year round. Not a subway under the city, a skyline ride over it. Think commuter rail meets Coney Island, built for the view, built for the scream, built to actually move people between the places we already crowd.
We are moving on up in the world first with three sky stations ( Then Interconnected building middle and rooftop bridges and rooftop ledge patios more cubic footage gained areas to utilize for stores, restauranst, parks etc ):
Now we've envisioned a future of one big, graceful loop across Manhattan, with occupying three perches-stations thru the buildings you can hop on and off:
Downtown station: perched at the top of the big loop over the Financial District, Manhattan. You roll out looking straight down at the harbor, Wall Street, and the Statue of Liberty in the distance. Morning coffee, evening lights — instant tourist magnet.
Midtown station: sitting right on the crest above the midtown cluster, just off the spine of building adjacent due to the Empire State Building historical landmark status. I placed it there on purpose so the track can swing west on the next pass, kiss Hudson Yards, and circle back around. Perfect transfer point, perfect selfie point.
Central Park Tower station: on the right side of the loop, anchored to Central Park Tower, the tallest tower on that side. You're at the peak before the big drop toward uptown, with Central Park laid out like a green carpet below you.
Three stops, zero traffic, all skyline.
Why bother?
Because it's fun first, and useful second — which is exactly how New York actually works. Tourists get a ride they'd fly here for. Locals get a 7-minute hop from FiDi/Financial District to Midtown that beats the 4/5 at rush hour. Vendors, artists, and small shops pop up around each station platform. Hotels, Broadway, museums, and downtown offices all get a new front door in the air. It's transit, it's theater, it's economic lift without digging another tunnel.
